We also know having a staff that is versed in the technological advances in medicine is truly the best way to accomplish this. Below is the list of screening protocols we administer to discover the best of the best.

Professional
  • Resume
  • Employment Application (includes professional education)
  • Skills Checklist
  • Professional References (one must be from Supervisor, one may be recent Performance Evaluation)
  • Performance Evaluations (requested from hospital after every contract, attempt to complete at least annually)
Licensure/Certification
  • Licensure for Nursing, Respiratory Therapy and Allied Health (upon hire with our company, ALL previously held licenses, regardless of current status, are verified for status and any prior disciplinary action; for subsequent contracts and/or license renewal, only the license currently practicing under is verified for status and disciplinary action)
  • Certification for Allied Health (ARRT, CST, etc); verified upon hire for status and upon each subsequent contract and/or certification renewal
  • CPR/BLS required for all Nurses; highly recommended for Allied Health; (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc. as required by hospital); we currently accept from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Education/Orientation
  • Employee Handbook (internal education on company policies/procedures, evaluation process, etc.)
  • Workplace Safety and Patient Care Standards (online course at RN.com; see course content below), completed annually
Background
  • County Felony Background Checks (includes all residences for last three years); ran every contract
  • OIG (Office of Inspector General); verified for each contract
  • EPLS (Excluded Parties List System, current and archived); verified for each contract
Identification
  • I-9 (documents accepted per INS regulations; at least one must verify identity) i.e. Driver's License, Social Security Card, Passport, Birth Certificate, etc.
  • Traveler must show photo ID when reporting to the facility
  • Will provide company ID badge if requested by Hospital
Health Requirements
  • Drug Screen completed at start of new contract in each new facility (10 panel, unless not available at some geographically remote labs); if traveler extends at same hospital for over a year, will repeat only per hospital request
  • Hepatitis B - we accept history of disease (physician documented), vaccine series (3), titre results, booster (preferably after a titre is done) or Declination Form
  • MMR - we accept history of disease (physician documented), 2 vaccines, titre results or booster (at least 1; 2 recommended, preferably after a titre is done)
  • Varicella - we accept history of disease (physician documented), 2 vaccines (preferably after a titre is done) or titre results
  • Physical - annual
  • TB - annual, 1 step
  • Chest X-ray - for history of positive PPD, updated every 5 years
  • TB Annual Screening Form - annually, for those travelers with history of positive PPD

RN.com Online Workplace Safety Course Content includes: Joint Commission, HIPAA, OSHA, Safety (general, fire, radiation, electrical, hazardous materials), Disaster Preparedness, Medical Devices, Latex, Workplace Violence, Sexual Harassment, Infection Control, Hand Hygiene, Bloodborne Pathogens, Hepatitis B, TB, National Patient Safety Goals, Medication Administration and Safety, Patient Assessment, Care Planning, Pain Assessment, Abuse and Neglect, Age-Specific Considerations, Cultural Diversity and Spiritual Needs, Patient Rights, Confidentiality, Ethics, Informed Consent, Advanced Directives, Restraints, Sedation, Point of Care Testing, Performance Improvement, End of Life Care, Resuscitation, Organ Donation, Sentinel Events; (Allied Health Course covers all topics, minus those that are nursing specific).
